Apple watches have been around for a while. As with some of these products there was an initial sales peak when it was first introduced on the market, followed by a slump. Part of the issue was that people were waiting for the right apps to be developed. Another part was that some people saw the watch as an extension of the phone.
Of course the price was always an issue. If you equate expense with luxury the Apple watch is definitely luxurious
